international foundation year

Prepare for your undergraduate degree.

What is the International Foundation Year?

The International Foundation Year is a pre-university course designed to prepare you to enter the first year of an undergraduate degree at Keele. You will study a range of academic subjects, study skills and English language modules over two semesters. Your classes will deepen your understanding of the subjects which interest you, helping you access a wide variety of degree options and career paths.

Which programme should I study?

The International Foundation is available in two pathways: Business, Economics and Computing or Social Studies and Humanities. You will be assessed regularly throughout your course so your tutors can monitor your progress and make sure you are achieving your goals.

Course structure

This two semester foundation course is a 30 week programme split into two semesters. Your studies will focus on academic subject, study skills and improving your English language level. You will study a combination of core modules, which are compulsory, and optional modules available for your chosen pathway.

Once you successfully complete the programme and achieve the required grades, you can enter the first year of your chosen undergraduate single or combined honours degree.
