What is the International Foundation Year?

The International Foundation Year prepares international students to enter the first year of an undergraduate degree. This two semester foundation course is made up of academic subjects, study skills and English language modules. You will study several related subjects within each academic module taught at Keele University International Study Centre. This allows you to deepen your understanding of subjects you are interested in so that you can access a wide variety of degree options and possible career paths.

Length and structure

This 30 week programme is split into two semesters. It is made up of core modules, which are compulsory. We will also help you to choose from the optional modules available for your chosen subject pathway. Your choice will depend on the degree you want to study at university.

How you will be assessed

Regular assessments help your tutors to monitor your progress and provide you with feedback to help you achieve the results you need to enter your degree programme. Assessments may include exams, essays, coursework and presentations.

Progressing to your degree

Once you complete the programme, and achieve the required grades, you can enter the first year of your chosen undergraduate degree at Keele University.
